Funeral services for Elsie C. Rickett, age 96 of Ogdensburg, will be held in the spring at a time to be announced at Foxwood Memorial Park. Mrs. Rickett passed away on Friday (Dec 30, 2016) at the Riverledge Healthcare Facility.
Surviving are two sons Robert Rickett & his wife Judy of Syracuse, NY and Ronald Rickett & his wife Nancy of Ogdensburg; a brother Jesse “Bob” Crawford & his wife Dorothy of Leesburg, FL; a sister-in-law Betty Rickett of Port Charlotte, FL; 8 grandchildren, Shelly Talarico & her husband Mark of Clark Summitt, PA; Amber Morris & her husband Matt of Bridgeville PA; Brittany Rickett of Palmetto, FL; Craig Rickett & his wife Teresa of Urbana, OH; Tracy Rickett of Liverpool, NY; Michelle Buonocare & her husband Richard of Clay, NY; Julie Hooper & her Husband Richard of Ogdensburg and Pamela Cole of Mattydale, NY; 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Morgan in 1986, and a sister Jeanette Crawford in 1941.
Elsie was born on October 13, 1920 in Ogdensburg NY, a daughter of the late Jesse & Bessie (Stevens) Crawford. She graduated from Heuvelton Central School and continued her education at the Ogdensburg Business School. She later married Morgan Rickett on October 8, 1943.
During her career she worked as a secretary for the Supervising Principal at Heuvelton Central School from 1948 – 1963, and then accepted a position at Community Bank, NA where she was a Vice President and Senior Operations Officer until her retirement.
Elsie was a member of the Order of Eastern Stars, she served many years as Treasurer of the Heuvelton Free Library, taught banking courses at St. Lawrence University, served a great many years as Secretary & Treasurer of the AIB, served many years as a AARP Tax Aide Coordinator & Counselor and Chairwoman of the Health Awareness Committee. She also served on Investment and Budget Committees as well as Concert Series treasurer at Hawthorne in Leesburg. Elsie was President of the Residents Association in the Claxton unit at United Helpers Nursing Home, and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Heuvelton.
