Funeral Services for Colleen M. Ross, age 91 of State Hwy 812 Ogdensburg, will be held at 1:00pm on Friday February 9, 2024 at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Deacon Mark LaLonde and Rev Paul Dettmer concelebrating. Entombment will follow at the Oswegatchie Mausoleum.
Calling hour will be held also on Friday from 10:00am to the time of the service. Mrs. Ross passed away at the Canton Potsdam Hospital on Saturday (February 3, 2024) surrounded by her loving family.
Surviving are four sons Curt (Colleen) Ross of Canton, Paul (Annmarie) Ross of Milton, VT, Stephen (Helga) Ross of Heuvelton and Kevin (Juliette) Ross of Ogdensburg; daughters Cheryl (William) Normoyle of Chester Springs, PA, Susan (Scott) Westfall of Ballston Spa, Nancy (Barry) Nicholson of LaFayette and Janet (Clifford) Ayen of Heuvelton; nineteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister Constance Donahue of Hudson; a brother David Morris of Ogdensburg; along with many nieces, nephews & cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband Donald “Red” A. Ross; and three brothers Robert, Kenneth & Donald Morris.
Colleen was born on June 15, 1932 in Waddington, a daughter of the late Colin & Jessie (Campbell) Morris. She graduated from Waddington High School and continued her education at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric School of Nursing obtaining a Bachelor’s degree.. She was later married to Donald A. Ross on August 30, 1953.
During her career she worked at Syracuse Hospital for a period, and later with A. Barton Hepburn Hospital in the maternity ward for 35+ years. She enjoyed crafts, knitting, sewing, canning, ceramics, her camp on the river and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events.
