Funeral services for Charles D. Pearson, age 70 of Covington Street in Ogdensburg, will be held on Friday (January 27, 2012) at 11:00am at Notre Dame Church with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Interment will be at Foxwood Memorial Park.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday (January 26, 2012) from 6:00-9:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mr. Pearson passed away Monday January 23, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family.
Surviving is his wife Ruth; three sons David M. Pearson of Canton, Brian A. Pearson of San Antonio, TX & Matthew J. Pearson & his wife Tina of Ogdensburg; a daughter Mrs. David (Ellen) Roux of Amsterdam, NY; a brother Daniel L. Pearson & his wife Sharon of Ogdensburg; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews & cousins.
Charlie was born on May 1, 1941 in Ogdensburg, NY, a son of the late Willard L. & Eleanor M. (Callanan) Pearson. He graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1959, and married Ruth Wells on May 5, 1962 at St. Mary’s Cathedral. After the couple’s marriage, they resided in Heuvelton for two years, and then moved to Ogdensburg in 1964. He was employed at McCadam Cheese Co., in Heuvelton for 10 years and then became a truck driver for Anchor Motor Freight and AJ Missert, Inc., in for many years. In 1985, he joined the NYS Department of Corrections where he worked in the business office, and later transferred to the maintenance department overseeing the tool room until 2004 when he retired.
He enjoyed bowling, playing softball, collecting and flying model airplanes, woodworking, and spending time with his grand and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Maple City Prop Busters Club, past president and board of director member of the Ogdensburg Rescue Squad from 1962 – 1973 and a Notre Dame Church Parishioner.
