

On Sunday, April 13, 2025, Carl S. “Red” St. Denny pasted peacefully surrounded by his family. A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Fox & Murray Funeral Home at 1:00 PM with Pastor Tom Nichols officiating. Visitation will be held prior from 11:00 AM until the start of the service. A reception will be held following the funeral service at the Crary Mills Community Center (39 Post Rd., Canton, NY 13617). Interment will take place at a later date at Rensselaer Falls Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fox & Murray Funeral Home.
Born January 13, 1938, in the town of Fayetteville, NY, to the late Harry and Ruth (Wells) St. Denny, Carl was the 4th of 10 children. He married Bonnie Storie on March 6, 1965, in Rensselaer Falls, they just celebrated their 60th anniversary. They resided in the home they met in and had four children. Carl served in the Nation Guard and was in the Local 925 Painters Union, where he painted the U.S. Canada Ogdensburg Prescott International Bridge, Missile Sites in Rouses Point, and the big water turbines in Niagara Falls. He also worked for over 36 years in Ogdensburg at the New York State Department of Transportation as a tree pruner, plow driver, and CDL Driver, retiring in 1995. He loved the take down the trees, he was known as Red the Tree Man. After retiring in 1995 from the State, Red went back to work for the Painters Union, painting Corning Glass. Even in retirement, Red continued to cut trees.
Red has a love for Harness Horse Racing and hunting. He was a longtime member of the Elks Lodge in Ogdensburg, and later in life enjoyed attending the Kendrew Methodist Church. He cherished his grandchildren, and great grandchildren more than life itself, Sunday drives and just helping others.
Carl is survived by his beloved wife, Bonnie St. Denny of Rensselaer Falls; his children, Michael St. Denny Sr. and his wife Barbara of Waddington, Scott L. St. Denny and his partner Jesse, and Sally A. Markel and her husband Darron of Crary Mills; his five grandchildren, Chistine LaVally, Michael St. Denny Jr., Zachary Markel, Makayla Markel, Mason Markel; his five great grandchildren, Dylin Lyns, William LaVally, Torin Cook, Zephyr Robidoux and Payton Robidoux; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his son, Randy A. St. Denny; his brothers, George, Robert, Donald, and Joseph St. Denny; and his sisters, Ann (Lloyd) Montroy, Norma (Robert) Bryden, Rose VanAmelsfort, Susanne (Ray) Burnett, and Theresa (Allan) Johnson.
