Calling hours will be held also on Thursday at the Mausoleum from 10:00am until the time of the funeral service. Mrs. Lyons passed away Tuesday (Apr 9, 2013) at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center.
Surviving is her husband Ellsworth “Al” Lyons; a son Deacon Patrick Lyons & his wife Sandra of Ogdensburg; a daughter Cindy Lou Lyons-Hart & her husband Jim of Ogdensburg; a grandson Benjamin Lyons & his wife Elizabeth of Ogdensburg; a great-granddaughter Isabelle Rose Lyons; along with nieces, nephews & cousins.
A brother James Fox and a sister Virginia Knowles predeceased her.
Betty was born on August 21, 1926 in Middlebury NY, a daughter of the late Leon & Rena (Lord) Fox. She graduated from Perry High School and married Ellsworth H. Lyons on August 2, 1946. She worked briefly for Assemblyman Barber Conable who was president of World Bank, and was a homemaker and second mother to her children’s friends during their childhood. In 2004, Betty’s caring demeanor earned her The Richmond Magnificent Mother Award that she held so dear. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, fishing, dancing, puzzles and spending time with her family.
