(Webbie) Webster Robert Russell, 76, entered Heaven January 23, 2011, at his home in Odessa, Texas. Webbie was born October 16, 1934, in Odessa, Texas, to W.H. Russel and Ernestine Farmer Russell. He married Joylyn Whiteley August 29, 1958. They made their home in Odessa for fifty-two years.
Beginning in grade school Webbie loved making motors run fast. Starting with a Cushman motor-scooter, going on to go-carts, dirt bikes, cars, boats, model airplanes and flying his own plane. In the later years his love was golf, and his ‘32 Ford Roadster Hi-Boy. He was a member of Christian Rodders Association. Many good friends were made over the years of his hobbies. Webbie was on the Deacon/Trustee Board at Temple Baptist Church. In Sunday School he was known as the donut-coffee man for twenty years. Webbie served on the board of Permian Basin Mission, where he also volunteered. Russell's Machine and Balancing, Inc. was owned and operated for thirty years by Webbie. He sold it in 2006.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother Richard, in-laws Harold and Theda Whiteley, son Barry, grand-daughter Crystal. He is survived by his wife Joylyn, daughter Joanna Buskirk and husband Mike of Odessa, grand-son Christopher, great-grand-son Malakai of Oklahoma , sisters Sara Forte of Albuquerque and Mary Coco of Belton, brother-in-law Sandy Whiteley and wife Diane of Chicago. Very special grand-daughter Kelly Sims, husband Jerry, great-grand children Alexis and Jax.
Services will be Wednesday, January 26th at Life Change Baptist Church at 1:30 pm. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park, Midland, Texas.
In lieu of flowers contributions in Webbie’s honor may be made to Hospice of Odessa or Alzheimer’s
