Virginia JoAnn Lance, 66 of Odessa passed away Wednesday April 13, 2011. She was born March 28, 1945. She was a mother of five, a grandmother of 14 grandchildren, and a great-grandmother of eleven great-grandchildren. She was spunky and full of life and always fought for the underdog, feeding and caring for every stray dog or individual that came her way. She was a single mom who worked two jobs while raising her family and at the same time attended college to better her self. She taught us to work hard and go the extra mile and have faith that God would take care of the rest. She loved and served the Lord with all her heart. She will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Shellie Lance, and son Timothy Sumner. She is survived by her two sisters, Susie and husband Max Boatman and Tammy and husband Ronnie Lauderdale. Two daughters, Tanya and husband Joey Brinlee, Ginger and husband Marcus Evans, and son Nicky Lance. Grandchildren include: Andrea Brinlee, Dillon Lynch, and Stevie Lauderdale. Randy, Chance, and Kristi Bretz. Sumner, Ryan, Taylor, Hunter, and Lindsey Evans. Mason, Cory and Breanna Lance along with 11 great-grandchildren: Alexis, Landon, Tuff, Triston, Lyla, Arrianna, Erynn, Brinlee, Emily, and Jeremiah. Avery special adopted daughter Julie and husband David Cichy and grandchildren Ian, and Jake. A very dear and loving Aunt June and two life long best friends, Betty Reedy and Martha Stock of Odessa. Services will be held Friday, April 15th, at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 5401 John Ben Sheppard Parkway, with Bishop Jimmie Ormsby officiating. Pallbearers will be Randy Bretz, Chance Bretz, Sumner Evans, Taylor Evans, Ronnie J. Lauderdale, Mason Lance, Landon Bretz and Cory Lance. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Odessa Funeral Home.
