Truman was born January 17, 1941, in Sidney, Texas to Berl and Maggie Solomon. He graduated from Monahans High School. He worked for many years at the Firestone Test Center in Ft. Stockton, Texas and retired from Texaco Oil and Gas in Odessa. He was a very active member of Northside Baptist Church. He volunteered at MCH with the MCH auxiliary.
Truman was an avid cyclist and was known by many for his love of cycling, competing in many rides. Many may not know him by name but are familiar with his bright yellow Recumbent.
He is preceded in death by his father, Berl Solomon and brother, Mickey Dale Solomon.
He is survived by wife, Dolores Hobson Solomon; daughters, Delaine and husband Kevin Jones of Odessa and Wesley Rose of Addison, Texas; 5 grandchildren Sarah, Rebekah and Stephen Jones all of Odessa, Mitch Rose of Addison, Texas and Kaitlyn Rose of Odessa; mother of his children Delores Collins Solomon; mother Maggie Phillips of Monahans, Texas; 2 sisters Judy McClanahan and husband Dick of Monahans, Texas; and Cathy Lancaster and husband Kenny of Abilene, Texas; 1 brother Harlan Solomon and wife Sissy of Monahans, Texas; extended family and step children, Mike Hobson of San Angelo, Texas and Dale Hobson of Odessa.
Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, June 13, 2010 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors, 4635 Oakwood Drive, Odessa, Texas.
Funeral Services for Mr. Solomon are Monday, June 14, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church of Odessa with the Rev. Clydel Chapman, officiating. Interment will follow at the Monahans Memorial Cemetery, Monahans, Texas.
The family would like to thank the First Responders of the Odessa Fire Department; Medical Staff in the E. R. and I.C.U. of Medical Center Hospital; the staff at Hospice House of Odessa and for all the many visits and prayers from our friends during this time.
Truman was a gentle man, a wonderful husband, father, grandad and friend.
