ODESSA Sifredo (Fred) G. Mata, 77, of Odessa, passed away August 3, 2013. He was born June 19, 1936, in Marfa, Texas. He started "the shop" in 1974, Mata's Enterprises Inc. would prosper in business for 39 years. He was known as one of the best sheet metal men in West Texas. Known as Fred to many, he was proud of his family and was an active member in his church as an usher, a Eucharistic minister, and served on various committees. He was a devoted and loving father and husband, supporting his children, throughout a wonderful life. He enjoyed taking his family on fishing trips, even if it was just for a day. He attended numerous band concerts and dance recitals to show his love for his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed watching old western movies on Saturdays and the Dallas Cowboys on Sundays. Fred was much loved and will be missed. He is survived by his devoted wife, Josie, son Selso Mata and wife Theresa of Allen, Pano Mata and wife Dianne of Odessa and daughter Melinda Terrier and husband David of Midland; Grandchildren Devin, Sara, Michael, and Anyssa; Brother Eddie (Lalo) Mata of Odessa; sisters Lucilla Lujan of Seminole and Adelina Ciganek of Cedar Hill; one stepbrother and three step sisters. A rosary will be held at Hubbard Kelley Funeral Home 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. Funeral services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Odessa on Wednesday, August 7th at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
