Born November 23rd, 1932 in Gatesville, TX and passed from this life on March 24th, 2016 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, TX.
Everyone believes they have the best mom in the world and we truly believe we did. Anyone that was ever a friend or acquaintance of Ruth Danley was truly blessed. Ruth was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend.
Known as Ruth, Nanu, Fancy Mimi & Mom, she had the patience of Job, the discernment of Solomon and the presentation of a queen. Anybody who knows her would understand these descriptions. Even though small in stature she was large in presence.
Born to J.I. and Alpha Parham, Ruth lived in Gatesville, TX until the age of 2. The family moved to west Texas in 1934 and called Lubbock, TX home. Following her graduation from Lubbock High School in 1951 she met and married Earl Danley on December 10th, 1951. Earl and Ruth were blessed with a wonderful marriage of 47 years until his death on December 10th, 1998.
In the first years of their marriage, Earl was a minister and in 1957 they went to Denmark with a group of Christians to help with mission work in Copenhagen. Earl & Ruth spent 5 years in Denmark and returned to Lubbock, TX in the fall 1961. Ruth was a partner with Earl in his ministry and they spent this time with the Southside Church of Christ until 1968. Beginning in 1968 they moved to Odessa where Earl became the pulpit minister at 6th & Jackson where Ruth would be a member until her death.
In 1984 Ruth made a life changing decision to begin a new job at Medical Center Hospital as a patient representative. She was passionate about her work and spent the next 26 years of her life serving the patients and staff of Medical Center. Ruth loved people and had an incredible dose of compassion mixed with a strong measure of patience.
The position she served in was both made for her and she was made for it. Upon her retirement in December 2010 many people realized how truly irreplaceable she was. Since her retirement, Ruth continued to serve as a volunteer with the famous “Pink Ladies” and volunteered her time up until this year.
Ruth is survived by two children and their families. A son Doug Danley and wife Karen, daughter Darla Patty and husband Sean. Four grandchildren, Sam & Zach Patty, Molly & Jeffrey Young, Sam & Melanie Luther. Two great grandchildren, Amy & Kyle Young. One brother, David Parham of Albuquerque, NM and numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Earl, her parents and three brothers.
