Robert Junior York

Robert Junior (Bob) York, 86, of Grandfalls, TX, formerly of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at his son’s home in Grandfalls. He was born November 3, 1926 in Spanish Fort, TX to Rob & Ora Barbee York.

Bob went into the US Army at the age of 17 & served in WWII, he shook hands with the Japanese as he always said. He worked in the oil field and drove a truck until his retirement in 1984. He lived in Odessa over 50 years. If you asked him how he was doing his answer was always “not a bump in the road.” He was a great pool player & dancer he even won some dance contests. He will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Virginia Bruno York, sister, Thelma, (4) brothers, Hack, Mc, Delbert & Alvin. He is survived by sons, Robert Allen York & wife Ginger Boyd of Bogue Chitto, MS, Mike York & wife Charleen of Grandfalls, daughter, Susan Kay Bowman & husband Stan of Fort Worth, sister, Dorothy Skinner, (6) grandchildren, Charles Michael York & wife Jennifer of Monahans, Robert Louis York & wife Marlee of Monahans, Traci Bowman of Plainview, TX, Jason Bowman of Fort Worth, Jessica Hubbard of Tyler, TX Christine Crow & husband Rhett of Mississippi, & (13) great-grandchildren.

There will be a visitation from 6:00 to8:00 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2013 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
