Rick was born in Denver City, TX on March 4,1951. He moved on to Heaven on May 12, 2024 from his home in Odessa, TX surrounded by family, who are praising God that Rick is now pain free.
Rick graduated from Denver City High School in 1970 and then attended South Plains College in Levelland.
Rick worked in the oil and gas industry before using his God-given gift as a fair and honest salesman, as evidence by his many repeat customers, until retirement. Rick never met a stranger and will be remembered for his servant heart, his quick wit, and his sincere - ready laugh.
Rick is married to Dianne Mayfield Hatfield, and they have enjoyed many laughter-filled years with their loving blended family.
He enjoyed playing golf (especially with his son, Dustin, chauffeured by his grandson, Nathan) and reading Texas and Native American history.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Elizabeth Hatfield of Midland and by his son, Tyler (TC) Hatfield.
Rick is survived by his wife, Dianne; son, Paul Hatfield and wife Alexis, of San Antonio, son, Dustin Hatfield of Odessa; grandsons, Hunter and Nathan Hatfield of Odessa; sister, Ann Clary, and brother, Biff Hatfield and wife, Shauneen, all of Amarillo. Rick is also survived by Dale and Kelli Mayfield and family, and by Bob and Julie Stewart and family, all of Odessa.
A visitation for Rick will be held Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors, 4635 Oakwood Dr, Odessa, Texas 79761. A celebration of life will occur Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 3:00 PM, 4635 Oakwood Dr, Odessa, Texas 79761. A committal service will occur Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 4:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 6801 E 1-20 Business Loop, Odessa, Texas 79762.
