Refugio G. (Ray) Mata

Refugio (Ray) Mata, 93, of Odessa passed away Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Medical Center Hospital. He was born June 4, 1922 in Casa de Piedra, TX to Severo & Jesusita Mata. He served in the Army during WWII. He was a retired carpenter.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Mario Lionel Mata, 1 brother & 3 sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Margarita Mata of Odessa, sons, Ray Mata Jr of Odessa, Ruben Mata & wife Mary of Odessa, Glenn Mata & wife Socorro of Odessa, Fernando Mata & wife Debbie of Richmond, TX, Alfredo Mata & wife Bea of Temple, TX, Rick Mata of Grand Prairie, daughters, Yolanda Mata & Maria Teresa Mata & husband Raul all of Odessa, daughter-in-law, Hilda Mata, (23) grandchildren, (43) great-grandchildren.

A rosary will be said at 7:00 pm Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Ector County Cemetery.
