Patricia Mae “Pat” Johnson, 70, of Odessa went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Medical Center Hospital.
She was born January 31, 1943, in Post, TX, to Herbert and Lona Mae Yarbro. She was the oldest of the four children: Lois, Ruben, and Mary. The family settled in Odessa, TX, where she attended Odessa High school. She loved all types of music and was very blessed with the ability to belt out any tune given from Patsy Cline to Dolly Parton, to Merle Haggard. Her other hobbies included gardening, sewing, crafts, interior designing and cooking, but truly cherished her time with her husband, kids and grandkids the most. Her life’s lesson was to always remember the importance of family. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother of five children and in return was rewarded with nine grandchildren who called her MEMA. She was a child of God and a member of Latter Rain Ministries.
She was blessed to be united with her soul mate and best friend, Gene Wayne Johnson who completed her missing half. They embraced life together on November 21, 1978, in Longmont, CO, and have cherished 37 fulfilling years. Watching beautiful West Texas sunsets and cuttin’ a rug in the moonlight were times they treasured.
“Momma, your legacy will live on in all of us forever. Thanks for all the compassion and forgiveness that you instilled in each of us, which gives us the strength to walk on. You will never walk alone and are greatly missed. WE LOVE YOU FOREVER and Dad says he misses his best friend.”
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary Elizabeth Brown and brother Rubin Anthony Bullard Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Gene Wayne Johnson of Odessa, two sons Keith Pyron and wife, Kelly of Odessa, and Kevin Pyron and wife, Cindy of Burleson, TX; three daughters Kim Baker and husband, Buzzy of Odessa, Jennifer Barnett and husband, Jason of Odessa, and Karen Taylor of Gunbarrel City, TX; brother Daniel Yarbro of Post, TX; two sisters Lois Brown and husband, James of Searcy, ARK, and Kathy Yarbro of Austin; nine grandchildren, Samantha, Josh, Colby, Billy, Aaron, Britney, Madison, Alyssa, and Kayden, three nieces, two nephews, her church family and countless dear friends.
There will be a visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, 2013, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2013, at Latter Rain Worship Center with Rev. Cliff DeArmond officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
