Mary Frances Fulcher (Price-Bigham-McBride), of Odessa passed away Sunday, September 15, 2013 at her home. She was born August 7, 1927 in San Angelo, Texas to Edgar Neely & Anna Belle Price. She married Frankie “June” Bigham, Jr. on January 13, 1944 and moved to Odessa to begin their life together and was home to her for the next 70 years. They had two sons, Robert Neely & Gary Mack. On May 23, 1953, June was killed in an oilfield accident. On October 10, 1954 Mary married William Harry “Dub” McBride and he adopted her two sons. Dub died November 16, 1965. On June 25, 1970 Mary married Dr. O.A. Fulcher and he pass away on November 30, 1977.
She was saved in 1940, at the age of 13, at the Cross Roads Baptist Church just west of Rotan in a dry farming community, her mom & dad were dry land cotton farmers. She worked with her parents feeding the chickens, gathering eggs, feeding the hogs and livestock that they raised for meat and milk. They had gardens to raise all of the vegetables to eat & trade in town for their staples of flour, sugar and feed.
She began her walk with Jesus when Mary and June Bigham moved to Odessa in 1944 they joined Emmanuel Baptist church on South Crane Ave., there she made many Christian friends and families. Then in 1950 they bought a new home on North Adams and moved their membership to Second Baptist Church where Mary sang in the choir & volunteered for anything to help in the church activities. There she made many long term friends and families. After June’s death in 1953, she went to work T. B. Tripp & Sons in 1954, where she met Dub, was married and moved to 61st Street. Mary started attending Northside Baptist Church and moved her membership there. Dub was saved that same year and started his Christian walk with Jesus Christ along with Mary. They became a great team serving what God had for them in their journey together. After Dub’s death she married Dr. O.A. “Jim” Fulcher in 1972. He was saved and started his walk with the Lord. This opened new doors for Mary to lead Jim and lots of new friends and families to Christ. After Jim’s death in 1977 she continued her walk and service for the Lord. In 1978 she went to work for Dr. Lauderdale & Galloway which later became Doran & Whitten. She moved her membership to First Baptist Church where she felt the Lord was opening new doors for her to better serve her Lord and it was a great time of serving for her. She made more and more friends and families. Only the Lord knows how many lives she has touched how many lived she has led to God. Mary has seen God and God has said, “welcome home, good and faithful servant.” She has walked the walk and talked the talk and now she is with her Lord & Master.
