Lonny Dale Wilson, 78, went to be with our Lord on March 13, 2015, in Odessa, Texas. He was born on December 7, 1936 in Pampa, TX. to Archie and Hattie Wilson, both of whom predeceased him. Lonny grew up in Odessa and at age 17 joined the U. S. Navy where he served for ten years. He returned to Odessa where he worked as Senior Instrument Specialist for Ref-Chem, El Paso Products, and The Foxboro Company from which he retired.
On June 17, 1966, Lonny married Jackie Bennett Darnell in Odessa, TX. They were married 49 years at the time of his death.
Lonny dearly loved Permian Panther Football, never missing a game (or a practice), unless circumstances prevented his attendance. He served on the Panther Football Booster Club Board of Directors during the years his sons played. He was also a supporter of Odessa College and The University of Texas sport’s programs. He was a member of Odessa Country Club, OC Wrangler Club, and Permian Panther Football Booster Club.
In addition to his wife Jackie, Lonny is survived by son Max Wilson and wife Lisa of Granbury, TX., daughter-in-law Linda Wilson of Odessa, TX., sister Constance Wilson of Frankfort, KY, brother Jerry Wilson, brother-in-law Danny Bennett and wife Jeanette of San Angelo, TX. Special adopted son Calvin Sinkfield of Thomasvislle, Ga. Beloved friends Mary and Gary Harris of Odessa, TX. Grandchildren Richard Wilson and wife Kirby, and Kristyn Wilson of Abilene, TX. Kaitlyn Smith and husband Aaron, currently stationed in England, U.K. Shannon Bradley, Sean Bradley and wife Raney of Odessa. Great Grandchildren Kally and Creek Wilson of Abilene, TX. Kaysen Smith of England, UK. Brennan, Jax and Trip Bradley of Odessa. Nieces Cindy Bennett of Midland, and Kellye Johnson of Odessa. Lonny’s son, Russell Wilson, predeceased him on January 19, 2015.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday March 18, 2015 at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the Family suggests donations to the “Russell Wilson Scholarship Endowment” at Odessa College.
