Leland Davison, age 75, went to be with his Heavenly Father Sunday, July 4, 2010, at Hospice House in Odessa after a year-long courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his death.
He was born August 26, 1934, to Leland H. and Louisa Ellen (Rush) Davison in Cowley County, KS. After graduating high school in 1953 at Hobbs High in Hobbs, NM., He married Glenda Blackmon on October 24, 1959, in Hobbs, NM., he began his career in the oilfield. He also served in the U. S. Army from 1957-1959. In 1969, he joined the Pipeliners Union Local 798 as a Journeyman Welder and Fabricator. He could weld anything except the break of day and a broken heart. He laid pipelines from Texas to Alaska, and worked on the Alaskan Pipeline in North Prudhoe Bay on the north slope of Alaska in 1976. Currently, he was employed by Engineered Pipeline Systems, Inc. He enjoyed his work and the friendships he made throughout his travels. Other than his work, his greatest joy was being with his family. He loved the Lord, and was a member of Life Change Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his in-laws, Johnny and Omie Blackmon.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda Davison; his son, Leland Shane Davison and wife, Sharilyn; his daughter, Tamera Reynolds and husband, Mike, all of Odessa; his brothers, Louis Davison of Vidor, TX, and Lloyd Davison and wife, Annie of Midland; his sisters, Louisa House of Odessa, and Lela Brooks and husband, Bill of Mineral Wells, TX; five grandchildren, Casey Tucker and wife, Pam; Dusty Tucker and wife, Michele; Molly Tucker and husband, Jake; and Ashley Gamboa, all of Odessa; and Sheryl Speck of Rotan, TX; and eight great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Harley, Richard, Jordyn, Trinity, Jayli, Landon, and Jacob.
There will be a family visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Life Change Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Thomason officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Steve Brooks, Tom House, Rance Wardlaw, Bryan Doty, Ronny Tucker, and Arthur Picazzari. Honorary pallbearers are Ralph “Eddie” Morgan, Sam Rice, and Thomas Rios.
