1957 - 2013 | Obituary ODESSA LeeAnn Etheredge Miller's life was defined by how she interacted with others: She simply loved her family and friends, and she loved to help other people.
LeeAnn passed away Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, in Austin, TX. She was 55.
She was born to loving parents Laverne and Tiny Etheredge on Dec. 29, 1957, in Odessa, TX, the place she would always call home.
A 1976 graduate of Permian High School, LeeAnn attended Hardin Simmons University and went on to enjoy a 24-year career with the Texas Department of Transportation, where she worked in a variety of capacities before recently retiring.
She may have stopped working, but that didn't mean LeeAnn stopped staying busy. She spent her days doing what she loved, shopping for that next "big deal," or simply running errands for herself or her family.
LeeAnn was always on the go. And she loved all things Christmas. If it was Christmastime and you weren't filled with the yuletide spirit, a brief encounter with LeeAnn would certainly put you in the joyful mood.
For starters, LeeAnn would be wearing her ever-present smile. And she would be proudly sporting one of her trademark Christmas sweaters (she boasted a collection of at least 30!). And for good measure, her wrists would be jingling with brightly colored holiday bracelets.
LeeAnn was an active member of First Baptist Church of Odessa, where she loved to attend and participate in her Sunday school. She was also a member of Preceptor Xi Gamma Beta Sigma Phi sorority.
Her passing was unexpected, and she left this world too soon. But she leaves family and friends with a lifetime of love and wonderful memories.
LeeAnn was preceded in death by a sister, Diane Etheredge.
In addition to her parents, LeeAnn is survived by her son, Tommy Miller, and his wife, Amanda, of Fort Worth; a sister, Gail Etheredge, of Odessa; grandchildren, Jake and Allie Miller, of Fort Worth; and a host of special aunts, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21st, at First Baptist Church of Odessa, 709 N. Lee Ave.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to CASA of the Permian Basin, Inc., 300 N. Grant, Suite 207, Odessa, TX 79761.
Arrangements under the direction of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
