John Lee Gist

John Lee Gist, age 86, of Odessa, Texas departed this earth to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas. He was born at Headlee Hospital in Odessa, Texas to the union of Marcus and Maureen Gist.

John worshiped under the Baptist faith.

John is preceded in death by his wife Sally Gist and one son, John E Gist.

During his stay at Medical Center, he found minutes to love and laugh as he told one of his favorite nurses "Heather where's your feather?"

John leaves three daughters to cherish his memory; Miranda Gist, Gina Gist, and Joni Gist, all of Odessa. He leaves one granddaughter Lauren Gist-Elliott of Weatherford, Texas. He also leaves three great-grandchildren; Layla, Dannie, and Dawson Elliott of Weatherford Texas. John is also survived by two siblings; Alice Marie Bradberry of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Marcus Sprague Gist (Cheryl) of Flower Mound Texas.

A public viewing for John will be held Monday, July 17, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home, 601 N Alleghaney Ave, Odessa, Texas 79761. A Celebration of Life graveside service will occur Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at 9:00 am at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 6801 E I-20 Business Loop, Odessa, Texas 79762.
