On December 9, 2012, the world lost one of its greatest unsung heroes. Jimmie Sherman Malone was born on September 29, 1949, in Monahans, Texas. He met the love of his life Martha “Marty” Holt-Kirk at a square-dance. He married her in August of 1976. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Odessa. Jimmie spent his life working hard for those he loved, and he could not have been happier doing so. He retired from Coca-Cola in June of this year after 37 years of dedicated employment. His old friends would joke with him saying, “If you cut Jimmie, he will bleed Coca-Cola.” Jimmie was a great man who lived a legacy of kindness and charity to all who knew him. Quick to smile, and even quicker to laugh, he opened his heart and his home to all. Jimmie was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it, whether they asked for help or not. Jimmie was a wonderful husband, an outstanding father, and a beloved grandfather. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, especially his four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He will be missed greatly.
He is preceded in death by his infant daughter Christina Carol Malone, father Bill Malone, and mother Tommie Malone.
Jimmie is survived by his devoted wife Marty; his daughter Laura Robinson and husband Ronnie; son Timothy Kirk and wife Amanda; daughter Jamie Henry and husband Stephen, grandchildren Terrin and Arianna Henry; grandson Coby Kirk and wife Natasha, great-grandchildren Annabelle and Nathaniel Kirk; granddaughter Kelsi Kirk and Marcus Garcia; brother Don Malone and wife Jean; sister Mary Henderson and husband Norman; and Tommy “Butch” Malone; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews and aunts and uncles.
