Jayne Damron Reese, 85, finished her earthly race Monday, March 21, 2016 in Odessa, Texas. She was born May 31, 1930 in Amarillo, Texas to Robbie Colleen (Tidwell) and Joe Sam Damron. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Odessa. Jayne graduated from Muleshoe High School and attended Baylor University and the University of Texas, where she became a member of Alpha Phi sorority. Jayne was also former president of the Odessa Jaycee-ettes and a member of the Odessa Republican Women and the Read and Review Book Club. Along with her husband Jim, she was a world traveler and particularly loved Switzerland, Hawaii and her vacation home in Rockport, Texas. Jim and Jayne were married in Muleshoe in 1951 and were married for 64 years.
Jayne is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Lori Jan Reese, sister Billie Joan Smith and her husband John, sister-in-law Elaine Damron and son-in-law William Robert (Bill) Rigney.
She is survived by her husband, James O. (Jim) Reese of Odessa, her brother Sam Damron of Muleshoe, Texas, daughter Greta Rigney of Midland and her three sons and their families, Joe Rigney and wife Jenny of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and their sons Sam and Peter, Robby Rigney and wife Alison of Midland and Daniel Rigney and wife Kayla of Midland. Jayne is also survived by her son James “Rocky” Reese and wife Carol of Horseshoe Bay, Texas and their three daughters and their families, Bethany Gibson and husband Aaron of Andrews with their children, Caroline, Hannah, Natalie and Rhett, their daughter Susan Schultz and husband Tommy of Marble Falls, Texas and their son Parker and their daughter Allison Farmer and husband Justin of Atlanta, Georgia and their children Sarah Kate, James and Wallace – a total of six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8pm Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home in Odessa. Services will be held Thursday morning the 24th at 9:30 at Hubbard Kelly chapel with pastors Chris Hagger and Joe Rigney officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
