There will be family visitation at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Home, 4635 Oakwood Dr. on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 from 6-8pm. Services are scheduled for 2 pm Wednesday at Frank W. Wilson Chapel with Rev. Cleve Kirby officiating. Services will also be held at 10 am on Thursday at the Hart United Methodist Church in Hart, Texas with Rev. Wilbur Ormond officiating. Burial will follow in the Hart Cemetery.
He was born April 24, 1964, to J.V. and Nancy Wescott of Hart, Texas. Jay graduated from Hart High School in 1982 and Texas State Technical College in Sweetwater, Texas. He was a member of Hart United Methodist Church.
Early in life, Jay worked for a newspaper, a photography store, an agricultural spraying service, a television station, and as a radio technician. He had been a member of the Hart Volunteer Fire Department. Later, Jay made his career in the Permian Basin installing and repairing radio equipment. Jay had a passion for climbing tall towers and his coworkers at Petro Communications were like family. Jay loved photography, dogs, music, and was an avid fisherman, just like his father. Above all else, Jay loved to meet people and connect through stories and yarns.
Jay is preceded in death by his father.
Jay is survived by his fiancee, Woodette Coleman of Odessa; his mother, Nancy Wescott of Hart; his sister and brother-in-law, Marci and Tom Jones of Amarillo; a nephew and niece, Jordan and Hannah Jones of Amarillo; special friends, Garth and Denise Powell of Midland; numerous cousins; countless friends; and his beloved Beagle, Lucy.
The family would like memorials in lieu of flowers to Hart United Methodist Church or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
