Jim was born on August 23, 1946 in Odessa to Frances (Cleveland) and James Lloyd Everett, Sr. He married Beverli Lee on October 22, 1988 in Las Vegas after 4 years of dating. Jim graduated from Permian High School in 1964 and then attended college at the University of Plano, graduating in 1970 with a Bachelor’s of Art Degree. After college, he worked at Zales Jewelry Store in Eldorado Arkansas. After selling diamonds, he came home to Odessa to sell tanks for the family owned business, Mapp Tank Company. He then owned his own business, S&R Tank, for a short time before going to work for Sivalls, Inc. where he worked for 30 cheerful years making many friends.
One of Jim’s happiest memories in life was being a member of the Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang serving barbeque all over the world with his fellow Gang Members representing Odessa. He was elected Chuck Wagon boss in 1984, being the first son to be boss following his Dad and currently the most tenured gang boss. The “Gang” remains to be some of his closest friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife Beverli of Odessa, his daughters Carrie Blakely and husband Randy of Odessa and Christi Shawell and husband Ragan of Kingwood. Five grandchildren, Brittney Barcena and husband Tyler, Kelli Blakely, Bailie Lane and husband Logan, Rylee Shawell and Caden Shawell. Four great grandchildren, Blakleigh and Branham Barcena, Lawson Lane and Madilynn Penn. Sister, Barbara Pope. Nephews, Matthew Pope and wife Delke, Michael Pope, Mark Pope and great niece Britney. Lifelong friends, Dee and Carol Morrison, Richie Dublin, Carl Bingham and his fellow Gang members. Also, many more family and friends whom loved him dearly.
He is preceded in Death by his Parents James and Francis Everett.
Services will be Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 11 am at Crossroads Fellowship Church officiated by Reverend Griffin Jones with a Reception following. Honorary Pallbearers are the Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang.

He was a Gentle Giant, His voice was like soft thunder. His Hands, strong enough to left up the fallen, yet gentle enough to hold the smallest child.
He was the Gentle Giant, His children were yours and mine. He towered over them with great height, and cast a shadow of deep love.
He was a Gentle Giant, his face chiseled from stone, his outward appearance intimidating, but his heart was molded from pure gold.
He was the Gentle Giant, and sometimes giants fall but in his wake he left waves of love to last for generations. Arrangements are by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
