Ida Salgado Hinojos

On May 27th 2023 our beloved Mother and Grandmother went to be with our Lord and her loved ones that wait for her. She was 94, born July 9, 1928 to Pedro and Angela Salgado in Big Springs, Texas. They moved to Odessa, Texas in 1934 and made it their home. In 1945 she married Jose M. Hinojos, they were married 52 years till his passing on June 10, 1997. 10 children were born from that surviving union; Joann (Herman) Fernandez, Cruz, Subia, Linda (Steve) Soto, Anita Carroll, Joe (Rebecca) Hinojos Jr., Diane Hinojos, Jackie (Freddie) Olivas. She raised two grandsons Roy Flores and David Hinojos as her own.

Preceding are daughters (Ida Hinojos, Angelita Fino, Denise Hinojos) Parents and sister Anna Quiroz, brother Pat Salgado, surviving sister Sally Copling and Andy Salgado.

Mother has 40 Grandchildren, 87 Great Grandchildren, 34 Great Great Grand Children and 1 Great Great Great Grandson. Our mother was a strong, self-dependent and honest woman. She was an excellent cook and made the best beans, flour tortillas and Chili Con Queso in the world! She had a vegetable garden and loved her flowers and chickens that she raised for many years. We had eggs for us and all the neighbors too! She enjoyed taking care of her yard until her early 80’s.

She will be missed by all of us who learned so much from her. All Good Things. She taught us well.

A public visitation for Ida will be held Monday, June 5, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM at Odessa Funeral Home, 1700 N Jackson Ave, Odessa, Texas 79761. A public visitation will occur Tuesday, June 6, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, 1700 N Jackson Ave, Odessa, Texas 79761. A rosary will occur Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will occur Wednesday, June 7, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 907 S Dixie Boulevard, Odessa, Texas 79761. A burial will occur Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Ector County Cemetery, 300 S Dixie Blvd, Odessa, Texas 79761.
