He was surrounded by the family that he cherished and loved dearly. To his beloved family, Guillermo far exceeded the expectations of a great man.
Guillermo was born on May 17, 1947, in Ft. Stockton, TX to Guillermo and Mary Galindo. He was the third of five children and the only male earning him the nickname “Boy”. The family made the move to Odessa in 1948.
In Odessa, Guillermo would begin the many friendships and connections that would define the life of a loving and caring man. It was his attendance at Ector High School where he would begin the journey with his true love and soul mate, Ofelia. He graduated in 1967. From 1969 to 1971, he served honorably in the United States Army. During his service, he made the journey home in 1971 from a post in Germany to wed the love of his life. Upon his discharge, he returned home for the greatest chapter of his life.
Guillermo attended Odessa College to learn the trade that would become his passion and career. As a welder, he was involved with the field that drives this part of the nation. It was in this field that Guillermo would initiate the many friendships and relationships that would define the man he would become. Affectionately known as “Billy”, he was accepted and loved by so many that he would come to know.
In 1975, Billy and Ofelia welcomed their son Jeremy and in 1981, their daughter Adonica. With his faith in God and the love of a family, he became the gold standard of a husband and father.
It would take some time for him to meet the newest members of his loving family. In 1998, Jeremy would marry the love of his life, Tanya. Billy would welcome Tanya with the unconditional love of a father, a quality for which she was so grateful. In 2000, Jeremy and Tanya welcomed their daughter Brianna. For Billy, Brianna provided the ultimate piece to a life fulfilled.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Guillermo and Mary as well as a younger brother, Roman. He is survived by his wife, Ofelia; son, Jeremy and his wife, Tanya; daughter Adonica; and granddaughter Brianna. He is also survived by his three sisters Virginia, Mary, and Carolyn as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The Galindo family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all the family and friends who have kept him in their thoughts and prayers. Your support and kindness have been uplifting. The family would also like to thank the healthcare professionals who showed great care and compassion during his final days.
