Long time Odessa resident Grace Miller, 95, died Monday, November 22, 2010 at Hospice House after a short illness. Grace was born July 25, 1915, in Mansfield, Texas. She grew up in Fort Worth and graduated from Texas Christian University in 1936. She married L. T. Miller in 1941 and had three children: Dr .Samuel Clifton (Cliff) Miller, who resides with his family in De Soto, Texas; Steve Miller, who is deceased, and Janis Miller, who resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is survived by her son Cliff and his wife Deanna, her daughter Janis and friend Arthur Follows, grandchildren Brittney Miller Duvall, Chris and Amy Miller, Kirsten Miller, and Brent Miller, and great grandchildren Savanna and Jake Duvall and Forest and Gracie Miller. She is also survived by half-brother Claude Nichols and family, cousin GiGi Long, and daughter-in-law Susan Conerly and her husband Jimmy Conerly.
After moves to several West Texas communities, the family settled in Odessa in 1951, where L.T. was employed by McVean and Barlow Pipeline Company until his death in 1981. Grace was active in several community organizations including the First United Methodist Church, the Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary, the Permian Study Club, the West Texas Chapter PEO, and Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed a long, happy and active life that included loving friends and family, a deep and abiding faith, community service, travel, a lovely home, lots of Dallas Cowboys football and Texas Rangers baseball, and several wonderful grand-dogs.
A memorial service will be held at First Methodist Church on Wednesday, November 24, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Ed Williamson officiating. The family requests that donations be made to Meals on Wheels, Hospice House, the First United Methodist Church, or the charity of your choice in lieu of flowers. We gratefully acknowledge the many years of fine care provided by Dr. John Doran and Wilma Grant, the care and attention of the staff of Home Hospice and Hospice House, and the love and support of Grace’s numerous friends, especially the Ray and Jane Reid family.
