Donny was born in Pampa, Texas on November 10, 1946 to Jimmie and Geneva Rhodes. He grew up in the Odessa area with 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Donny graduated from Ector High School. He married Carla Witt on September 6, 1980. They had a wonderful marriage raising 4 children.
Donny was a wonderful family man and always prioritized taking care of his wife, children and grandchildren. He had a strong faith that he shared with his family. Donny had an excellent sense of humor, even allowing his granddaughter to "do his makeup." His example of strength and humility will live on in his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, and 2 brothers.
Donny is survived by his wife of 44 years; children, Chevon (Steve) Taylor, Rene (Eric) Butler, Lori Grantham, Beth (Robert) Dennis; sister, Kim (Len) Chaney; sister in law, Sharon Williams; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Donny will be held Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Odessa Funeral Home, 1700 North Jackson, Odessa, TX 79761. A celebration of life will occur Friday, November 8, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 1700 North Jackson, Odessa, TX 79761. A committal & burial service will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 6801 E I-20 Business Loop, Odessa, Texas 79762.
Serving as pallbearers are Nick Crumrine, Robert Dennis, Eric Butler, Len Chaney and Jamie Williams.
