Fred Clark, 95, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 9, 2010 with his loved ones around him.
He was born in Choctaw County, Alabama and was preceded in death by his wife, Imozell Parker Clark. He is the last of his 9 siblings to leave this earth. One of his greatest reassurances was that one day he would see them again in Heaven. He was a member of the Seventh-Day-Adventist Church in Gilbertown, Alabama..
He is survived by his daughter, Freddie Kaye and husband Darrell of Odessa, Texas, grandchildren, Brad Wyatt of Odessa, Keith and Katie Wyatt of the Woodlands, Texas and great-grandsons, Aiden and Oliver Wyatt of The Woodlands. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and friends.
For many years his favorite past time was sitting in his rocker, reading his bible and watching his birds and squirrels. In 2004 he moved from Gilbertown, Alabama to live with us. He read his Bible completely through so many times that after wearing out the third Bible he decided to quit counting. When asked how he could read it that much because most people never read it through once, his reply was “each time I read it I learn something new that didn’t hit home with me the last time.” His love for God and the Bible was something that he cherished each day of his life. Never a day went by without him giving thanks to God. Even until the end he had a sense of humor and when asked how he felt, He would reply “There’s nothing wrong with me except old age.”
Our family would like to thank Dr. Chau Le, Compass Hospice, and Nurses Unlimited for the special care our loved one received in the last several years. We were truly blessed and grateful to have had you join us in caring for Dad and we thank you.
The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home with Rev. Ethan Muse officiating. His interment will be in Athens, Arkansas where he will be laid to rest next to Mom.
As Daddy would say to Darrell each night, “Well Darrell, ole boy, I’m checking it to ya and if the good Lord’s willing, I’ll see you in the morning.” Yes Daddy, we will see you on that bright and cloudless morning.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Gideons International, 602 N. Baird , Suite 200, Midland, Texas 79701
