She was born on April 27, 1917, in Sherman, Texas to William and Bertha (Grammer) Taylor.
She married David Alvin Rice on July 9, 1938, and resided in Odessa, Texas where they enjoyed a good life together. They were blessed with a daughter Shirley Dean and a son David Edwin.
She worked for Sears for 18 years retiring in 1972. She had many talents including quilting, sewing, painting, playing the piano, making jewelry and many more. She also wrote amazing letters to the President and to the Editor of the Odessa American paper.
She is a member of the Parkview Church of Christ where she enjoyed listening to God’s word and singing with her family and friends. She was a blessing to everyone!
Frances (Granny) moved to Liberal, Kansas in 2020 to be with family. She is survived by a son David Rice and wife Jeri. Seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and eighteen great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Brothers are Donald (Kereene) Taylor and William Taylor. Sisters are Lawanda (Bill) Duckworth and Marilyn (Jim) Mitchell. Sisters-in-law are Iris Taylor and Bonnie Taylor.
Preceded in death by her husband, David Alvin Rice, her parents and step-mother, Mandy (Blankenship) Taylor.
Her daughter Shirley Pokorny and son-in-law, John Pokorny. Also, an infant grandson Jon David Rice. Seven brothers: (2 infants) Leamon, Edmond, Archie, Leon, and Kenneth. Six sisters: Gertie, Thelma, Richie, Mayhew, Fern, and Ida.
Visitation will be from 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W. 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas. The family will be present from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM to receive friends.
Funeral Services will be at 12:00 PM, Thursday, December 23, 2021, at the Parkview Church of Christ, 1700 Park Blvd, Odessa, Texas 79763 with Danny Wilson presiding.
Burial to follow at the Sunset Memorial Gardens, 6801 E. Hwy 80, Odessa, Texas 79762
