Eva Faye Murphy, age 86, died on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at her residence.
Faye was born on February 14, 1924 in May, Texas to Charles Edward and Laura Fredonia Weathersby. She was the youngest of eight children. On June 29, 1942 Faye married the love of her life, Curtis Murphy. They were married for 68 years until his death on August 6, 2010.
Faye and Curtis were married in May, Texas and shortly after moved to California where Curtis worked as a welder in the ship yard and Faye worked as a welder’s helper.
Faye moved back to Odessa in 1944 when Curtis joined the US Army. Faye lived with her sister and worked for the US Post Office until Curtis returned from overseas in 1946. They continued to live in Odessa for the rest of their lives.
Faye worked for First National Bank for 37 years in teller services, bookkeeping, collections, and safe deposit. When she retired she devoted her time to taking care of Curtis, visiting with her sister, Opal, taking trips with Curtis, and eating homemaker ice cream ever chance she got.
She was a member of Crescent Park Baptist Church. Faye is preceded in death by her husband Curtis, her parents Charles Edward and Laura Fredonia Weathersby, her brothers, Herman, Altus , and Hugh Weathersby, her sisters, Zelma Hurley, Opal Silhavey, and Winnie Smith.
She is survived by a sister Ruth Gober and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Nurses Unlimited, particularly Billie, Bertha, Kay, Cristina, and Carmen for their compassion and dedication. The family would also like to express their appreciation to Home Hospice and their excellent staff. A special thanks to Jackie for all your help.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday December 27, 2010 at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
