Esther Irene Long, 86, of Odessa passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born March 4, 1929, in Butler, PA to Charles Relton and Gertrude Charlotte (McGinnis) Michael.
She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who was extremely proud of her family and rejoiced in all of their accomplishments. She spent endless hours baking and preparing for company. She never knew a stranger and touched the lives of all who were blessed to know her. She was known for and will forever be remembered for her kindness, generosity, humor, knowledge, faithfulness, wisdom, grace, hospitality, patriotism, humility, compassion, and selflessness. She will be forever missed and remembered by all.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles William Long; great-grandson Orion Lee Garza, four brothers Marlin Lee Roy, Charles Marion, Dean R. and Dewitt Ardell Michael; and sister Joyce Snow.
She is survived by three daughters Kathleen Johnson and husband, Roy of Tyler, TX; Cristie Barrow and husband, Gary of Lubbock; Billie Sterling and husband, Michael of Odessa; brother Bernard Michael and wife, Peggy of Petrolia, PA; five grandchildren Kevin W. Johnson, Kandy Messenger, Rob Sterling, Angela Garza, and Lindsey Keeton; twelve great-grandchildren Alexis, Kaitlyn, Haley, Lynden, Bailee, Landyn, Abrum, Orien, Arien, Mari, Cheyenne and Kylee; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Family visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday, January 3, 2016, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Monday, January 4, 2016, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dwayne Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Ector County Cemetery/Rosehill section.
