Elwood Howell, 85, of Odessa, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013 at the Hospice House. He was born September 6, 1927 in Brownfield, TX to William & Eva Mae Howell. He was a retired construction superintendent with Cooper Construction for over 30 years.
After retirement he spent most of his time tending to his pecan trees at “The Place” located at Pleasant Farms. He also was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels for several years. He enjoyed woodworking and playing with his great grandkids. He will be extremely missed by his whole family.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Avenell Howell , April 22, 2010, parents, Step-grandson, Blake Amonett, (5) brothers, Orin, Troy, Bob, Ray, & Cuffy Howell, & (1) sister, Mary Young,
He is survived by his daughter, Linda Amonett & husband Ron of Odessa, (3) grandchildren, Theresa Simpkins and husband Kevin, Tina Wolsch & Jimmy Wolsch & wife April, step-grandson, Brent Amonett, (5) great-grandchildren, Hailey, & Lindsey Simpkins, Spencer, Joshua , & Skylar Wolsch, and several nieces & nephews.
He will lie in state 10:00 a.m. til 9:00 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2013 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating.
Pallbearers will be Tina Wolsch, Larry Sparkman, Dennis Anderegg, Mark Anderegg, Clare Anderegg & Andy Hudson.
