Edwin died in Odessa, TX on December 7, 2018 at the age of 95. He was born to Dennis and Lelia Roberts on January 13, 1923 in Wewoka, OK. Ed met Mildred (Midge) Webster in Snowmac, OK. They were married in April 1940, Ed was 17 and Midge was 16, they celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary before she died in 2010. Ed brought his family to Odessa in 1953. While still in OK. He was hired by Frank Phillips as an A-Class Mechanic for Phillips Oil Company, in Odessa. While employed at Phillips Oil he made several innovations for the petroleum industry. Determined to provide amply for his family he worked 12 years in his garage he had converted to a work shop in his back yard. Where he built the first freestanding wire line machine. In 1972, Edwin along with Mildred and Michael their youngest son established a successful oil related manufacturing company, “CEDCO”, Commercial Electric Drive Company where Ed manufactured freestanding wireline machine, which he sold all over the world. One of his original machines is in the Permian Basin Petroleum Museum in Midland. Ed was well known in the Odessa and Midland area in the oil business.
Edwin was preceded in death by his parents and 4 of his siblings, his wife Midge, his son Raymond, and his grandson Brent.
He is survived by his son Michael, his great grandson Derek, his great great grandson Brent Lee, his sister Rose and many nieces and nephews.
Ed was active in his church, Odessa Christian Faith Center, he loved the Lord, his Pastors Don and Paulette Caywood and will be missed by all who knew him.
