Edgar Davis, 89, of Odessa, Texas, loving husband, father, and grandfather went home to be with The Lord on Wednesday, September 21, 2011, after a prolonged say at Odessa Regency Hospital battling pneumonia and cancer.
Edgar was born on June 12, 1922 around Snyder, Texas to Mary Emma Dunn Davis and John Simpson Davis and was the 9th of 12 children.
Before World War II, he moved to California and worked in the shipyards as a burner. He moved back to Odessa and enlisted in the Army. He married Clara Ruby Atchison on January 6, 1945 in Stanton, Texas while serving in the Army during World War II at Midland AFB from 1942-1946.
He was baptized into Christ in 1946, and was member of Eisenhower Church of Christ. He was a Christian example to all friends and family and will be sorely missed. He was a quiet man of few words, but was an honest, principled hard working man who provided for his family. He had a very special relationship with his three grandchildren.
Edgar retired from Union Oil Company after working as a pumper for 32 years. He also owned apartments and rental property in Odessa for over 41 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 5 sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Ruby Davis: two children; Daughter, Sharon Peck and her husband Kyle of Midland, three adoring grandchildren Keegan, Kelsey and Kensly Peck; Son, Don Davis and wife Jeannie of Abilene and her three children Wes Isler, Mindy Johnson and Missy Poe, their families. He is also survived one brother Edwin Davis of Paradise, CA.
Services will be held 1:30 p. m. Monday September 26 at the Eisenhower Church of Christ in Odessa. He will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
