She had to be very independent at an early age. She worked hard as a nanny for several families whose children loved her dearly. Eventually she married Ignacio Zuniga on May 26, 1959 and followed him around to different towns where he found work. Odessa eventually became home to them after a 2 year time in Stephenville, where their oldest son Adrian was born. Son, Marcos, and daughter, Christina, was eventually added to their family.
Our momma was so faithful to her husband and children. She would bend over backwards to take care of her children. She always sacrificed so her children were well taken care of. Then came the grandchildren, which where the apple of her eyes. She would always light up when she saw them. When her great granddaughter came along, there was a whole different twinkle in her eyes. Our momma gave it all ‘til the end. She was a mother and a friend to all. We feel comforted that she gave her life to the Lord and was baptized. Momma, we will see you again.
Dolores is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ignacio Zuniga; sons, Adrian Zuniga and wife Susie and Marcos Zuniga and wife Letticia; daughter, Christina Carter and husband Jerry; numerous brothers and sisters; seven grandchildren, Yvette Zuniga, Joshua Zuniga, Elsa Marie (Isaac) Rodriguez, Marc Zuniga, Jon Zuniga, Victoria (Cody) Wray and Jeremiah Carter; and 1 great granddaughter, Yael Rodriguez.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 5-9 PM at Odessa Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be Friday, March 31, 2023 at 10 AM at Bible Centered Fellowship Church followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
