DeLora Jo Eager Wood, age 72, beloved wife, mother & grandma, finished this life and left to join our Lord on Monday, May 5, 2014.
She was born October 14, 1941, in Abilene, Texas, to J.C. Eager, Jr. and Effie Rae Johnson Eager. She married Charles Wood, the love of her life, on October 3, 1959, in Denver, Colorado. She loved God first, flowers, cats, and babies, but most of all, she loved her family. During her life she taught cradle roll at Eisenhower church of Christ, was a Girl Scout troop leader, volunteered as a V.I.P. at Reagan Elementary, taught at Cambridge Learning Center, and volunteered as a Pink Lady at Medical Center Hospital. She was an avid reader, an accomplished seamstress, and enjoyed crocheting.
DeLora was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Marion Eager. She is survived by her husband Charles, daughter LaDonna Chism and husband Stan, son Charles Wood, Jr. and wife Lemy, son John Wood and wife Sonia, grandsons Trinidad Wood, Devin Wood, Andrew Wood, Matthew Wood, Damien Wood, and granddaughter Jaqueleen Wood, sister Kay Dunivan and husband Robert, brother Rolan Eager, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and various much-loved friends.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Friday, May 9, 2014, at Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Eisenhower church of Christ in Odessa, Texas, with interment following at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pall bearers will be Don Easlon, Rudy Ochoa, Richard Siler, Scot Straw, Johnny Warren, and Jeff Wesson. Honorary pall bearers will be Bill Butler, Lon Howard, Jimmy Nunley, Trinidad Wood, Devin Wood, Andrew Wood, and Matthew Wood.
The family requests memorials be made to Eisenhower church of Christ Youth Fund, 807 E. Eisenhower, Odessa, Texas. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home, Odessa, Texas.
