Delma Martinez Mata, 64, of Odessa was promoted to glory on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 19, 1953, in Marfa, Texas to the late José and Manuela Martinez.
Delma was a proud Bulldog and 1972 graduate of Artesia High School. Later that year on September 23, she married the love of her life Ismael Castillo Mata in Pecos, Texas. She was a retired Wilton method cake decorator instructor for Michael's and Hobby lobby where she shared her passion for cake artistry with countless students. She was also an at-home baker.
Delma is preceded in death by her parents and her son-in-law Roman Prieto, Jr. She is survived by her husband Ismael Castillo Mata; son, Ismael Martinez Mata Jr; son, Steve Martinez Mata and wife Debra; son, Matthew Aaron Mata and wife Ariana; son, Erik Lee Mata and wife Karina of Odessa; daughter-in-law Mandy Leigh Flippo Mata of Silver City, New Mexico; eight beautiful grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at 7pm on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home. Rosary will be on Thursday, January 11, 2018, at 7pm at Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 12, 2018, at 1pm at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Father officiating. Interment will follow at Ector County Cemetery.
