He was born August 26, 1932 in Alpine, Texas to Juan and Angelina Valenzuela. David enjoyed fishing, camping and attending horse races. In his younger days he was a pitcher for The International of Alpine, Texas well known by his friends as “Curvia” (AKA the curve). In October of 1952 he married the love of his life Isabel Gallego Valenzuela. David worked and retired from Ector County Road and Bridge.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Isabel Valenzuela; two sons Hector and Santiago “Jimmy” Valenzuela; brothers Juan, Ruben and Jesse Valenzuela; sisters Viola Porras and Sylvia Jimenez
He is survived by his four sons David Valenzuela, Jr and wife, Alma; Oscar Valenzuela, Daniel Joe Valenzuela, and Michael Valenzuela and wife, Esmeralda, all of Odessa; daughter Jackie Lynn Hernandez and husband, Bo of Odessa; sister Catalina Salas of Marathon, Texas; eighteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, with Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Thursday, November 29, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Frank Chavez officiating. Interment will follow at the Ector County Cemetery.
