Danielle Rene Lechtenberg

Danielle was born on November 20, 1978, in Omaha, Nebr., to David Handle and Kellie Farnan. She graduated from Papillion-LaVista High School in 1997 and received a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development from the University of Nebraska Kearney in 2001.

She recently started working as an early childhood intervention specialist for PermiaCare. Prior to that, she worked many years for multiple universities, primarily in student services as an academic advisor and a testing specialist. Danielle loved to sing, a passion she shared with her son, Jacob. She also loved to cook and would regularly watch the Food Network for recipe ideas and inspiration, accompanied by her beloved dog, Lambeau.

Danielle is survived by her husband of 23 years, Tom; her son Jacob; father David (Teri) Handle of Papillion, Nebr., mother Kellie (Joe) Farnan of Omaha, Nebr., and mother-in-law Lorraine Lechtenberg of Springfield, Nebr.; grandmothers Theresa Farnan of Omaha, Nebr., and Pat Handle of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; siblings Kristin Fisicaro, Melanie Colanino, and Matthew Hanna of Omaha, Nebr., and Heather (Anthony) Boro of Bennington, Nebr.; sisters-in-law Michelle (Mike) Howell of Plattsmouth, Nebr. and Amy Watson of Omaha, Nebr.; nieces and nephews Madison and Chloe Fisicaro, Alex Colanino, Matt and Nate Boro, Diana Howell and Monica and James Watson.

Danielle was preceded in death by father-in-law Rod Lechtenberg; grandparents John Handle, James and Jean Skaja, and Janice and Watson Stites; aunt Suzanne O’Hearn and brother-in-law Shawn Watson.

Memorial services will be held on July 12, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home in Odessa, Tex., and July 26, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Springfield, Nebr.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes you to consider making a donation to St. Jude’s Children Hospital in Danielle’s memory. The family would like to thank all the family and friends that have provided support during this time of sorrow.
