Man I am so sorry to hear that Charley has passed and especially that I did not find out about it until yesterday 6/5/20. I have so many fond memories of Charley but none more so than his beautiful wife Tina and those two beautiful young daughters. That family was just what Charley worked and lived for. Everything else came in 2nd. And of course as you said, that contagious laugh!!  It always took a tough situation and made it better. One of the best coworkers I ever worked with. I loved Charley Gregg!!

We were friends since first grade or before. We spent a lot of time at each other’s homes. I remember Lou making homemade chocolate chip cookies and fresh ice cold Bordens milk from LC’s truck.
Sports sports and more sports. 
Charley was always so friendly and happy. Then his wedding to beautiful Tina so many years ago. There are many stories to tell but another time. 

We lost touch after college but recently kept in touch via the phone. We saw each other at the reunions and we would just slip into our friendship like we never were apart.

He was a great guy and his strengths outweighed his flaws. I loved him like a brother.

I will truly miss him.

This is how I remember it....
It was  Spring, 1975...my Freshman year at Abilene Christian College in Abilene, Tx. My best friend from childhood, Tina Gayle Williams, had come to visit me. We decided to go across town to see one of our Kermit High School friends, Don Harraige, who was playing football at McMurry University.  When we got to his place, we went up the stairs, giggling and talking the whole time (if you can believe that).  We couldn’t wait to see someone from home.  But when we knocked on the door...no one answered.  We knocked again and knew there was someone inside...we could hear them moving around, closing doors...and talking. Finally after about 5 minutes, this cute guy opened the door slowly...looking at us, “Hi! Is Don Harraige here?” Soon, a couple of other guys peered around the door,  before a seemingly relieved Don said, “Oh My Gosh!!  Tina and Laura Ann!!  What are you doing here?”  We decided later that they must have been straightening up the apartment to impress us!(?)  Anyway...Don introduced us to his teammates. To this day...I remember the look on your mom’s face when Don said,  “and this is Charley Gregg”.  Her eyes danced and she got that sheepish grin on her face and looked at him like, “You don’t know who you’ve just met!”  She swept me off to the only bathroom in the apartment where we did one of those little giddy girl dances,..you know...the ones  where you squeal and jump up and down, all the while, your mom going on and on about that CUTE Charley guy... “tall, dark, and handsome!!!”  And...you know how your mom is...your dad never had a chance...he was bitten and smitten!!  I always thought it was love at first sight for both of them.  And the rest is history.  Your dad loved and was loved by your mom and each of you...No greater life than that!   May God comfort you with sweet memories.

Got to know Charley when he became a workover foreman for Oxy. Did not take long to realize his oilfield knowledge and how good of a person he was. Always had a smile and a story. Definitely a gentle giant! Don’t remember Charley saying a bad word about  anyone. I retired at the end of 2019 and talked to Charley about 2 weeks ago so this came as a big shock. My prayers are with the family. You guys lost a champion

My deepest condolences to the Gregg family. I am so saddened to learn of his passing.  

I had the privilege of meeting and working with Charley when he began as a WOCS with Oxy. He spent most of his time working outside the office, but he always made a point of stopping by my office to say "Hi" and give me a hug when he was in for a meeting or training. He usually had a funny story or encouraging word to share. His smile was contagious. He had such a gentle spirit and I will miss him.

Praying for immeasurable peace for all of his family and friends. May your memories bring you smiles and laughter.    

Charley was a teammate and friend in high school.   A strong leader, but such a fun guy to be around!

I remember at Shan ‘s wedding ..he cooked all the food ..we got to hear jokes and every one had fun dancing ....
Wow , Charley  you are going to be miss ...I will try to keep Tina in line ....lol .....just like you did ......

Charley and I would share jokes. With us the dirtier the better, his laughter came from down deep.  While working for Basic in Andrews, Michael and I would come by to perform our pest control duties at his offices. However, when we would got to Charley's office, Michael would lose my help as I would just sit with Charley and swap jokes and stories. When Charley hugged you, you knew you had been hugged. We miss this big, burly guy, but the fond memories will last a lifetime. In our family we grieve in the beginning, but then we give in to the funny tales of our dearly departed, and with Charley, we will have plenty of those.

I cant begin to express in words how much I'm going to miss my lifelong and best friend Charley "Hoss" Gregg. From junior high, when I arrived at Andrews, Texas, to our adult lives as oilfield workers I'll always keep his memory alive in my heart and in my prayers.  My God knew that I'd need one true and loyal friend in my life so He put Charley Gregg in my path. I love you, my friend. Rest in peace.

No one could make that base line jump shot like Charlie.  As a JV bring me up for the State playoffs in ‘74 I thought Charlie was a giant, Coach Farmer would say in the time out, “just get it to Charlie on the Base line, he will make it” and he usually did.  Will never forget that look on his face after that net went Swoosh and he would turn and trot  back down the court.  Rest In Peace my friend.

This one hurts.  Charlie was a great long time friend.  He reached out to me last year and thank God  for that.  Was able to see him and spend some  time with him late last year.  I wish the best for Tina and Charlie’s family going forward.  I will always miss him.

I met Charley when he applied for a position as a workover specialist for Oxy. I was immediately impressed but his genuine personality and friendly manner. 
He worked for me until I retired. Never heard a bad word from him. Always had a great outlook each day.  
The world and our oilfield will definitely have  a large void. 
Rest In Peace my friend.
