He was born June 25, 1932, to William Byrle and Helena Grace (Percy) Chase in Seminole, OK. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 until 1955, and later married Myrtice Barton on July 16, 1955, in Clovis, NM.
He worked for Pioneer Natural Gas, and for Pantex in Amarillo, TX, the Permian Corp in Midland, TX, and the Acme Co and National Share Data in Odessa. In 1980, he purchased Sherwood Miniature Golf where he and his wife operated the business for many years until his health became bad and they sold it.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother William Warren Chase, a son Byrle Jay Chase, and a son-in-law Johnny Wendeborn.
He is survived by his wife Myrtice Chase; daughters Donna Wood and husband, Randy of Odessa; and Rhonda Wendeborn of Andrews, TX; son James Chase of Odessa; seven grandchildren, Chris Woody and wife, Dixcie; Desiree Tucker and husband, Will; Bryan Chase and Todd Chase, all of Odessa; Misty Vanderburg of Midland, TX; Matthew Morgan and Colby Windeborn of Austin, TX; seven great-grandchildren, Kynzie Woody, Kaden Woody, Rian Rivera (Woody), Max Aguilar, Chase Farmer, Autumn Morgan and Avery Tucker; one brother Derrel Chase and wife, Janie of Abilene, TX; and a large extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at First Assembly of God Church with Revs Wayne Woody and Gayle Reeves officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
