Billy Eugene Heggemeier was born August 4, 1926 to Paul and Zella Ann Wilson Heggemeier.
Bill was formally educated in Madison, KS. He entered service of WWII at the age of 17 serving with the U.S. Navy Seabees. His greatest accomplishment was at the age of 63 entering the ministry of the First United Methodist Church completing his course of studies at SMU Dallas, TX.
He was past post commander of American Legion Post 124-Madison, KS. He was past master of great Bead Masonic Lodge #15 member of the Salina, KS, Sr. Bodies 32nd degree mason, member shrine center in Iris Temple Salina, KS. Order of the Eastern Star Gridley, KS. He was a member of the Permian Basin Genealogies Society. He and his wife Jean presenting many programs and work shops of the state and surrounding areas. He was past asst. minister and member of the First United Methodist Church, Odessa, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Zella Ann Wilson Heggemeier, brothers staff sergeant Paul A. Heggemeier and Charles T. Heggemeier.
He is survived by his wife Jean of 64 years having married May 4, 1946 in Madison, KS., sons, brig general Terry Heggemeier and his wife Cheryl of Barnem, Minnesota, Ron Heggemeier and his wife Marel of Austin, TX., twin sister Betty Kimberlin of Lyons, KS. Grandchildren, Jennifer Schaefer of Broomfield, CA., Jessica Bogle and husband Lucas of Maple Grove, MN., Juliet Christensen and husband Dave of Esko, MN., Justin Heggemeier and wife Michele of Great Bend, KS., Jeffry Heggemeier and wife Katie all of Albuquerque, NM., brother in-laws, Don Tannahell of Olathe, KS., WM Lago of Modesto, CA., Larry L. Lago of Augusta, KS., sister in-laws, Patricia Bevan of Wichita, KS., Virginia Bevan and husband Lee of Leon, KS., Mary Sue Choal and husband Gaylord of Reliance, South Dakota, Rita Jo Voss of Henderson, Nevada, Donna Kay Hague and husband Rodney of Peabody, KS., 18 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends from 6p.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 23, 2010 at First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Odessa, Texas.
