Odessa – Betty Trimble Edwards, age 89, of Odessa, passed from this life at Medical Center Hospital on Monday, April 18, 2016. She was born in Corsicana, Texas on June 17, 1926 to the late Joel and Aline Kirk Trimble. Betty attended the University of Texas at Austin where she was a member of the women’s choir and moved to Odessa in 1947 with her husband W. T. “Bill” Edwards so that he could pursue a career in the emerging oil and gas industry. Betty and Bill quickly became involved in the Odessa community and she was proud to be a member of many organizations such as President of the Women, and Alter Guild at St John’s Episcopal Church where she also sang in the choir till age 70. She helped start the Well-Baby Clinic and Panhellenic in Odessa and was a charter member of the First Crystal Ball Foundation Board. She was also a past President of the Odessa Country Club women’s group, Mothers Club and Book Club in Odessa. She was a “nearly” Life Master in bridge and enjoyed being a member of the Junior Service League of Odessa as well as the Daughters of the American Revolution. One of her greatest thrills in life was taking a trip to Paris aboard the Concord jet and going many times to the Metropolitan Opera in New York. She was most proud of her life with Bill and the many children and great grandchildren that have been the result of their wonderful marriage. Those left to cherish her love and memories are her son: Kirk Edwards of Odessa, Daughter: Patty Kinnaird of Odessa, daughter in law: Sophie Edwards of Odessa; one sister: Pat Olson Ferguson of Lafayette Louisiana; 10 grandchildren: Joel T, Ben, Rachel, David, London and McKenzie Edwards, as well as Will, Kyle and Lee Kinnaird and Amy Kinnaird Gipson and two great-grandchildren Rory and Rowan Edwards. She was preceded in death by her parents: Joel and Aline Trimble; sons: Joel Trimble Edwards and W. T. “Bill” Edwards III and her husband and love of her life: W. T. “Bill” Edwards. The family wants to thank all of you who have cared and checked on mom the last few years and especially want to thank mom’s wonderful care giver of so many years, Ginger Christian, and in the last few months Rosario Barreto and also the kind and compassionate staff of Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am¬¬¬¬¬¬ Friday, April 22, 2016 at St John’s Episcopal Church in Odessa. A private burial will be held at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park near Burnet, Texas. Arrangements are entrusted to Frank Wilson Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to St John’s Episcopal Church in Odessa, The University of Texas Permian Basin or the charity of your choice.
