Barbara Lavell Morgan, 69, of Odessa passed away Friday, August 1, 2014 at Midland Memorial Hospital. She was born August 24, 1944 in Childress, TX to A. W. & Zena (Shotwell) Wakefield. She graduated from Wylie High School in 1962 and attended Hardin Simmons & McMurray Universities. She was the Membership Director for the Odessa Country Club where she had served for more than 45 years. She has been an active member of Westover Baptist Church for the past 26 years and most recently serving as the Adult II Sunday school teacher. Barbara was also a former founding member of the Texas Independent Automotive Association where she and her husband Scott Morgan worked with independent garage owners from across the state to improve the automotive industry in the state of Texas. She was also fluent in American Sign Language and served the community as an interpreter for the deaf for many years.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Carl Scott Morgan in 1997. She is survived by her son Scott Wayne Morgan & wife Cindy of Cedar Park, TX; daughter Lisa “Buffy” Lavell Westlund & husband Richard of Midland; sister Linda Kay Wood & husband Allen of Pueblo, CO; Five grandchildren Kaycee & Max Westlund, Carlie, Isabella & Sophia Morgan; and her four legged grandson “Pico”.
A visitation with family & friends will be held 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Westover Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Westover Baptist Church General Fund.
