Amparo was born in Balmorhea, TX on July 18, 1969 to Felipe and Juana Hernandez. She attended school in Balmorhea, TX, Las Cruces, NM and graduated from Ector High School in Odessa in May 1969. On July 19, 1969 she married her one true love, Reynaldo Galindo, also from Balmorhea. They were blessed with 54 years of marriage and two beautiful children, Steven Rey and Sonya Rae.
She was a stay-at-home mom until 1998 when she and Rey started Laconofre Industries, a local machine shop. Together they worked until their retirement in 2022. Amparo was a very humble woman, never forgetting where she came from. She was not one to buy lots of expensive clothes, jewelry, etc. even though she could afford it. If someone gave her a compliment she would always say, “I got it at Walmart!”. She was not a shy person. She would meet a stranger and strike up a conversation right away and eventually become friends with them. Amparo also enjoyed traveling with Rey on casino junkets or driving to Albuquerque and Santa Fe where they would visit El Santuario de Chimayo. They would attend church service there and go see the prayer wall where she had a picture of their son Steven and her brother Balente. Amparo also loved praying the rosary daily. She will be forever missed.
Amparo was preceded in death by her parents, son Steven Rey, and granddaughter Kayli Galindo. Her sisters, Carolina Luna, Maria Lopez, Elena Villarreal. Brother Balente Mendes Jr. and stepfather Balente Mendes Sr.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Rey Galindo, daughter Sonya Rae Morales (David), grandsons Dallas Rey Galindo and Shiloh Rey Morales, granddaughter Kandi Sanchez (Lester), great granddaughter Lilah Talavera, sister Oralia Tavarez, stepsisters Manuela Borunda (Nestor), Carolina Mendez and Alicia Munoz, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
