She was born January 1, 1922, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, the fifth child of Peter and Jesse Roth. She graduated from Bartlesville High School in 1939 and then attended business college. On February 27, 1943, she married “Gene” (Ernest Eugene) Clark, a petroleum engineer with the Phillips Petroleum Company. They were apart for two years during World War II while Gene served as a naval officer in the South Pacific and she worked as a key-punch operator in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After the war, and throughout her husband’s 44 years with Phillips, they lived all over the United States before moving to Odessa in 1971 where he retired from his job as Regional Manager for the Permian Basin in 1986. He died in Odessa in 2009; in 2010 Aileen moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where her daughter and son-in-law live.
Aileen Clark was first and foremost a loving wife and mother. She also was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Odessa for 44 years; a member of P.E.O. for 50 years, serving as a chapter president in Santa Barbara, California; and enjoyed playing golf during her years as a member of the Odessa Country Club.
Survivors include a sister, Noreen Roth Edens of Lewisville, Texas; her daughter, Mary Beth Clark McGreevy (Bill) of St. Louis; her son, Andy Clark (Anne) of Bermuda Dunes, California; a grandson, James Clark (Lisa) and twin great-grandchildren (Tristan and Eva) of Santa Barbara, California.
Graveside will be Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Odessa.
