Bill passed away peacefully on August 20, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was 88 years old.
He had a kind and gentle soul.
Bill was born in Hawaii and grew up near Waikiki Beach where he paddled canoe and surfed with friends. As a boy he witnessed the bombing of Pearl Harbor. As a teenager he joined the U.S. Marines and landed in Oceanside where he met his wife, Dee. They have been married for 65 years.
Bill retired from Orco Block. After retirement Bill and Dee volunteered for several non-profit organizations. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Order of Alhambra, a Catholic organization.
Bill enjoyed traveling, especially vacations in Hawaii. He loved golf, and he enjoyed being with friends and family. In recent years he could be found most often attending to his back yard gardens and then driving with Dee to the beach area around the Oceanside pier to take in the scenery or “talk story” with old friends.
He is survived by, and will be missed by, his wife Dee, his daughter Kim DeSmit, son Bill Stone, and their families including one great grandson.
A service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 12th at Eternal Hills, 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside, CA. A reception will follow at the same location.
