William Duncan Gemmill

William Gemmill, also known as Bill, was born in Los Angeles, California to Russell and Mildred Gemmill and sister Lucille. A younger sister Joyce Allyn came a few years later. He began his working career when he was eighteen at North American Rockwell - aerospace, aircraft, avionics, electronics, which he took a great liking to.

He married Dolores Mary Boyle in Las Vegas, in 1950 and together they raised five children; William, Mark, Karen (dec), Laurie, and Debra. Bill got his private pilots license and traveled for fun in his own airplane. He retired after 45 years from North American Rockwell/Boeing in 1992.

Dolores passed away in 1996 in Oceanside. In 1999 Bill met and married Avis Carmel. Bill and Avis moved to Rainbow Valley and bought a dream home and four acres of avocado trees. Avis died on April 21, 2017.

Bill is survived by his sister Joyce Hubon, sons Bill and Mark and daughters Laurie and Debbie, 8 grandchildren Dr. Lisa Gemmill Mahlum, Eric Gemmill, Evan Tucker, Russell Tucker and Philip Favre Felix, Cole Murdoch, Coco Murdoch and Meghan Murdoch and 6 great grandchildren Faith Gemmill, Joy Gemmill, Hayslee Gemmill, Claire Currie, Eleanor Currie and Cali Tucker.

A Visitation for William will be held Monday, March 9, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Eternal Hills Memorial Chapel, 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside, California 92054. A Memorial Service will occur Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 10:00 AM, 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside, California 92054 followed by a reception at 12:00 PM.
