He joined the United States Marine Corp in April 1952 . He married Ozella Silmon in December 1952.
He confessed Jesus as Lord of his life in 1958. He Announced his calling to preach under the Leadership of Elder Buchanan at Shiloh Church Of God In Christ. He preached his first message from St. John 15. Dad had a favorite Scripture that mom would read to him at his bedside, Psalm 133.
Presently his home Church was High Desert Outreach Community Church of God In Christ, Pastor Willie Smith.
He was a member of the masonic Surfside Lodge were he served as Chaplin. He enjoyed providing for his Family. He loved to fish at the Oceanside Jetty and in Lakes . After he retired
from the Marine Corp he never flew in a plane again. He loved long distance driving, so he would drive home to Texas whenever he could.
He was preceeded in death by his mother, father, 2, sisters and 2, Brothers.
He is survived by his wife Ozella Griffin, daughters, Mona Hooks, Gale Spicer, Angela Legree, Carolyn Oates, Tracy Anderson, and a Son, Tommie Griffin III.
He was grandpa to 14 grandchildren and great-grandpa to 3 great-grandchildren.
Psalm 133:1-2, Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the bread, even Aaron’s bread: that went down to the skirts of his garments…
