Sara Lee Murphy was born on May 4, 1931 in Montgomery, Texas to the Reverend Abe Brown and his wife Mary Miller Brown. She professed her hope in Christ at an early age at her home church in Conroe, Texas. Her current home church is New Adventures in Oceanside, Ca. She passed on November 26, 2010 after a valiant and graceful fight with cancer.
She was a loving mother and wife for 60 years. She was the spirited and faithful partner to her high school sweetheart, Willie R. Murphy, Sr whom she married on June 6, 1950. Survivors are: sons Willie R. Murphy Jr. (Sheila) of Portland, Oregon; Vaughn Murphy (Dora), Wayne Murphy (Lisa), and daughter Jacqueline Murphy, all of Oceanside, Ca. She has seven grandchildren, April Murphy, Nicole Murphy-Garcia (Jose) and Jasmine Murphy all of Portland, Oregon; Kevin Harper, Trent Murphy, Brandi Murphy and Bryce Murphy all of Oceanside, Ca. Additionally, she has five great-grandchildren, Heaven Leigh Shianne Wilson, Anthony Garcia, Rico Garcia, Carlos Garcia and Nayana Garcia of Portland, Oregon. Her siblings surviving her are Odessa Taylor and Mary Lois Goodall of Houston, Tx; Jewell Rose of Conroe, Tx; and Charles Brown (Joyce) of Bryant/Houston, Tx. She has a host loving of nieces, nephews and friends.
Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, cooking, baking, enjoying the great outdoors and all of life’s adventures having been a military wife. She learned to play the piano later in life when she discovered a passion for music and also learned to swim to take advantage of her then new home’s pool. She was a gracious hostess and made everyone welcome in her home.
As a woman of God, she exemplified what a wonderful wife and devoted mother should be. Her many friends are a testament to the loving kindness she shared with all those she met. Let us not be sad, for though she has gone home to be with our Lord, her memory will continue to live on through her family and friends forever.
